...............NICARAGUA

Our Christmas 2006 Mission trip to Nicaragua as a part of Georgian and Winnie Banov’s Global Celebration “Christmas with the Orphans” group was a rich and rewarding experience.

Our group was made up of 65 people, men women and children, from the United States and Canada. We joined in with a group of local Nicaraguan churches to hold Praise Parades with music and singing along with toy and party favor giveaways. Local native hot food was prepared and shared with the people in the neighborhoods that we visited each day with the Love of God. The presence of the Lord was so very sweet, and the people so receptive to the sharing of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We had the privilege of praying for people to receive salvation, healing and comfort from the Lord, and saw a number of physical healings including blind eyes (cataracts) restored to good vision, injured back healed, leg and back pain completely removed. In one case a mother brought a young toddler who had a leg that had drawn up and was unusable after an operation that had complications. The young boy’s leg was healed and straightened and he immediately began to walk on it as his mother wept in the precious presence of the Lord.

We visited many places in Nicaragua travelling by Bus, Plane, Taxi, and Boat. Christmas Eve and Day as well as Tuesday were spent in the Managua area and the Western part of the country, including the city of San Leon and town of Jinotepe. Wednesday and Thursday we traveled to the Southeastern part of the country to the Bluefields area as well as a boat trip up river to the Island of Rama Kay, where an isolated people group of about a thousand people living in thatched roof houses welcomed us as we shared the Love of God with food, song, preaching and prayer.

We handed out Christmas presents to the families living and working at a rock quarry in the Bluefields area and enjoyed celebrations and more feasting and sharing at a local church that had construction underway for another orphanage in that area. Friday and Saturday we traveled to the Northern mountain area near Maltagalpa and the coffee plantations for more outreaches with celebrations and feastings as we shared the Good News of the Risen Christ.

Our days were busy and our efforts well received by the gracious people of Nicaragua. We experienced the Love of God in us and through us as we moved in the Father’s heart for the widows, orphans and poor of this beautiful country and God hungry land. Please pray for the people of Nicaragua and the will of God for the people and the country, and the advancement of His Kingdom in that part of the world. We are in awe of His goodness and grace that were demonstrated on this mission trip.
