Named for An Angel...

Unable to settle on a name, we fellowshipped for two years under “Full Gospel Church in Christ.” The name of our denomination and the original name of the church my father had pastored for the previous twenty-six years.

One afternoon while studying for a sermon I opened my Strongs Concordance and a paper fell out. It was a copy of an article by Rick Joyner entitled “Shepherds Astray.” In that article he shared how a prophetic friend, Bob Jones, had been visited by a large Angel who was called “Winds of Change.” The name resounded in my Spirit and I knew this was our identity and a calling.

    Before...

For 26 years our church had a typical format of service. Open in prayer, sing some hymns, receive an offering, prayer request and testimony time, and sermon and altar call. It had a small country church flavor located in town. Lives were touched, souls saved, bodies healed. People came and went.

    After...

Winds of Change came. A prophetic atmosphere filled the church. Contemporary worship mingled with the hymns. Comfort zones were disturbed as the singing turned into worship and actually became ministry unto the Lord.

Prayerful intercession would break out during the music and the floor was opened to those impressed with a spiritual passage from the Bible or a word of encouragement or edification from the Holy Spirit.

People left the church, which was a small congregation to begin with. Those of us ready for change remained.

We were having fun. We could worship as long as necessary, being as expressive in our appreciation to God as we desired. There was a freedom for individuals to share their revelations of the word. Sermons were sung spontaneously by the worship team. It was great.

As a Pastor I was concerned about the lack of size of our crowd. We had large crowds for special meetings but our core group remained the same. I would be reminded by the Lord, “It’s more important to grow the church in people than people in the church,” a word he gave me when I first accepted the Pastorate.

    Now...

Winds of Change are still here. A guest speaker who flows in the prophetic, Joni Ames, shared that as she drove up to our church building she saw in the spirit a sign that said “No Parking.” She believed it meant we would not be remaining there.

We have always desired and talked about taking Jesus outside the four walls of the church and did so through various outreaches. However, our church building, though convenient, comfortable and most importantly paid for seemed to be a focal point.

There was a stronghold in our thinking that the “Church” is a building. To break that pattern of thought - and we believe in obedience to the Holy Spirit - we gave up our building, put our belongings in storage and started having home meetings.

We are now actively engaging other ministries and churches in evangelistic outreaches as well as helping provide opportunities to enrich the lives of believers through Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.

    Future...

We here at Winds of Change realize that God is always in motion. We desire to be quick to follow him so we travel light. Our church building is as big as the earth, full of people, some believers, some not.

So we will continue to Praise, Worship, Preach, Teach, Prophesy and celebrate the love of the Father expressed to all through His Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (And we're still having fun.)

    Prophetic Arts...

The invisible qualities of God, his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. Romans 1:20

Increasing numbers of God’s sons and daughters are allowing the Heavenly Father's divine nature express itself through their creative giftings.

Poetry, music, dance artwork, songs, writing, sculpting, drama, media… the anointing of the Holy Spirit is pulling on this creativity and providing a platform of acceptance among the church and the secular crowd.

Winds of Change encourages and experiences the birthing of the creative arts among the body of Christ. The arts are key evangelistic opportunities to develop relationships by revealing God to others without “Religious” overtones.

It is also exciting experiencing intimate moments with the Lord as the Spirit crafts these new “works of art” through us.

Here are two examples of prophetic artwork by one our Pastors Deborah Cain. One is a painting of a vision related to her by Ethan Minney.
